Exercise – Form II – MOTION IN A STRAIGHT LINE – ACTIVITY 3

ACTIVITY 3
1.    A car accelerates uniformly from a velocity, u at town P to to town Q in time, t. If the acceleration of the car was “a” and the distance between two towns is “s”, show that $$s={ut}+{1\over 2}{a t^2}$$
2.    A body accelerates from a velocity of 15 m/s at 2 m/s2 to a distance of 54m. calculate the;
(a)    The final velocity
(b)    The time taken for the body to travel

3.    An object travelling at 15 m/s accelerates uniformly at 2.4 m/s2 for 12 seconds.
(a)    Calculate the final velocity
(b)    How far does it travel?

4.    A football was kicked into hands of a goal keeper at 4m/s. The goal keeper stopped the ball at 2 m/s2. If the mass of a ball is 0.5kg, calculate the time it takes to stop the ball
