GEOPHYSICS
1.
Deep in the oceans there are deposits of a solids called methane hydrate. You can think of this as ice crystals containing trapped methane. There is enough methane hydrate off Japan to provide all its energy needs for 200 years. However, as the Earth warms up this will start to melt and can escape into the atmosphere. Methane is a major
greenhouse gas. If the methane hydrate is used as energy source it produces carbon dioxide, which is also a greenhouse gas. Discuss the problems caused by this situation.
2. Write a letter to your local member of parliament explaining the problems of global warming and suggesting what Tanzania could do to improve the situation.
