TRANSFER OF HEAT
1.
An electric kettle is used
to heat water. When the kettle is switched on, the energy is transferred to the
water by a heating element at the bottom of the kettle.
(a) State the process the
transfers energy from the heating element to the water at the bottom of the
kettle.
(b) Eventually all of the water
in the kettle becomes hot. Explain how energy is transferred from the water at
the bottom of the kettle to the rest of the water.
2.
Your feet feel warmer on a
carpet than they do a tiled kitchen floor. Give one reason why.
3.
The diagram shows a solar
heating panel which is used to heat cold in a house.

From the sun to the solar
heating panel.
ii) From the hot water in the pipe to the colder water in the tank.
